Operation Write Home Bloghop!

Welcome to the Veteran's Day Weekend Bloghop, sponsored by Operation Write Home! Welcome hoppers coming from Jackie's Blog!

Our bloghop mission was to make a Valentine's Day Card! Since we're making cards for soldiers overseas, we need to be a month or two ahead of the game! The deadline for Christmas Cards has passed and next holiday OWH needs cards for is Valentine's Day.

My card was made using Close To My Heart's Silhouette Creative Basics paper (no longer available). The "I love You" stamp from CTMH's "Dainty Thoughts" C1350 stamp set, and the "Truly, Madly, Deeply" stamp from CTMH's "Priceless Love Word Puzzle" D1348 stamp set. The words were stamped in CTMH's Amethyst ink, and the distressing in CTMH's Archival Black ink. Lastly, three Prima flowers were added, in various shades of purple, along with black brads. The card base was made from natural brown cardstock (not sure of the name, but the brown paper bag type paper). And that's it! Simple but cute card.

So let's start making Valentine's Day cards for OWH! We need to get tons of these cards completed and sent overseas by the 7 Jan 2011 deadline!

Blog Candy: How did you get started volunteering to make cards for OWH? Share your story under my comments and I'll pick a person at random to receive 5 homemade Christmas cards. My story on how I got started is that I actually received an OWH card in the mail from my husband in Afghanistan! You can read more about it on my website!

Next on the Bloghop is Heather's Blog. Thanks for stopping by!

  5. Very nice and elegant card. I got started originally through a group of ladies I get together with and then got them involved again when Christie put the challenge on her blog. Being a veteran and an Army brat this means a lot to me, so I'm overjoyed to be involved!

  14. Great sentiment and I love the bracket. Neat story. I got started when I found OWH on Facebook. It is a great way for me to deal with being an Army mom of 2 soldiers--one deployed. I've made somewhere around 800 cards for OWH now.

  16. Fabulous story. Thank you and your husband for your service to our country. I found OWH while surfing the web one night and became OBsessed with being a part of the project. I've gotten my two women groups involved and my networking group is raising money for OWH at our next meeting.

  23. Such a lovely card! I got started with OWH last year when I was looking for something that I could do to show support to our service men and women. Cards were a great way for me to be artsy and make a small difference.
